“In those days Mary arose and went with haste to the hill country, to a city of Judah” (Lk. 1:39). With haste: That is, with urgency, promptness, zeal, effort, solicitude, diligence, eagerness…
Love serves. Love is diligent. Mary arose, left her life arranged where she lived, troubled herself in order to go and serve. It is the first word in the Gospel, the first act of Mary’s apostolate. She entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. “As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb.” Because Mary communicated to them the Messiah who, wherever He passes, leaves behind a trail of profound joy.
Mary is indispensable for God. So He has willed it. The entire movement of salvation, everything, begins with Mary.
Being Mary in the world
Those of us who are part of the Reign of Mary want to imitate the mission of the Virgin: to welcome Jesus and communicate Him to others, above all to be at the service of those most in need. To carry that light of God, which is Jesus, in order to take Him far away, very far away, farther still. To be “Mary” in the world.
With perseverance and Marian sweetness we want to reach the sick, the elderly, the poorest, prisoners, children, the most defenseless, so that they too may perceive Mary’s love and tenderness in their lives and experience the joy of an existential encounter with Jesus.
For this, to be active apostles in action, with words or, better yet, with deeds. May everyone who suffers, who feels alone, who endures physical or psychological limitations, who has lost hope, who cannot find a path, not only discover that there is a God who loves them, but also feel loved by Him through the works that we carry out with the help and through Mary Immaculate.
As, thanks be to God, we are already doing in different countries, from Argentina to the United States and also in Europe.
We all have something to give
It is very easy to serve. Some people need food, others a roof, others to be brought out of ignorance, but many more need a smile, someone to listen to them, to accompany them in silence, or to teach them how to pray. And we all have something to give.
Hospitals, nursing homes, community kitchens, are some of the places where we can imitate the charity of our Mother Mary. And we can begin with something simpler, with those who are close to me, at home, in the family, at work, at school or university.
To serve with promptness, to leave behind one’s own comforts, to be Mary in the world, to bring Jesus, to communicate the joy of salvation and to open hearts to hope, are also ideals of the Reign of Mary, which we wish to spread.
