Consecration to Mary

As requested by the Blessed Virgin at Fatima, the Queenship of Mary aspires to consecrate every person, every community, every nation, and the whole world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Consecration is a surrender, a gift of oneself, a belonging to the one to whom one is consecrated. To consecrate oneself to the Blessed Virgin is to give oneself entirely to her, not only so that she may protect and shelter us, but also so that we may imitate her and allow ourselves to be guided and formed by her maternal heart.

Consecration to Mary is founded upon Sacred Scripture. First, in the Incarnation, when the Father entrusts His Son to the Virgin (cf. Jn 1:14; Lk 1:31,38). Just as the Word entrusted Himself to her, so must we. And at the summit of Calvary, Jesus entrusts the disciple to her (Jn 19:27), the disciple who represents all humanity. “When Jesus therefore saw His Mother and the disciple standing by whom He loved, He said to His Mother: ‘Woman, behold your son.’ Then He said to the disciple: ‘Behold your Mother.’” From that moment, the disciple welcomed her into what was most intimate to him, as one of the truths that constituted the content of his faith.

Some theologians say that it is not so much that we consecrate ourselves, but rather that God consecrates us (sanctifies us; cf. Jn 17:17ff.) through the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Many saints, moved by the Holy Spirit, consecrated themselves to the Virgin Mary using various formulas or forms, but always with the desire to belong entirely to the Virgin Mary.

Below you will find some formulas for your consecration to the Blessed Virgin: the one we make in the Reign of Mary and those of several saints.

Consecration of the Queenship of Mary

O Blessed Mother of God and my tender Mother! To you I turn, Virgin of the Immaculate Heart, Our Lady who leads us to the Encounter with God. You are at once the Powerful Lady and the Mother of the little ones, the forgotten, and the miserable. I acknowledge you as the maternal Mediatrix of all graces, Co-Redemptrix in compassionate sorrow, compassionate Mother of your helpless children. To you God wished to entrust the entire economy of Mercy; wherever you enter, you obtain the grace of conversion and sanctification.

Encouraged by this confidence in so Good a Mother, recognizing myself a sinner, full of misery and in need of the grace and mercy that you possess, I prostrate myself at your feet and today renew and ratify in your hands the promises of my Baptism. I renounce forever Satan, his pomps, and his evil works.

Freely I consecrate myself to you, Our Lady of the Encounter with God. I consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart so that you may be my most loving Mother: my life, my sweetness, and my hope, the heart of my heart. Yes, Mother, make me your child according to your will; shape me according to your Immaculate Heart. I proclaim you my Mistress, my Queen and Lady, my Teacher and Counselor. In an irrevocable way, you shall be the one who leads me to the blessed Encounter with the God of my life.

Mother, grant that I may persevere in this holy love that today you have inspired in me. I need to lose myself and abandon myself trustingly in you, without conditions and irrevocably. And may everything I do be in you, Mary, with you, from you, through you, and for the eternal praise of the Most Holy Trinity. God, One and Triune, whom I adore and love, in whose Love I believe, and in whose Mercy I hope to sing with you, O Mary, forever, the praise of His Glory. Amen.

Consecration to the Immaculate (Saint Maximilian Mary Kolbe)

O Immaculate One, Queen of Heaven and earth, refuge of sinners and our most loving Mother, to whom God wished to entrust the entire economy of mercy,

I, N***, an unworthy sinner, prostrate myself at your feet, humbly begging you to accept me entirely as your possession and property, and to do with me whatever you wish, with all the faculties of my soul and body, with my life, death, and eternity.

Dispose also, if you desire, of my entire being without reserve, in order to fulfill what was said of you: “She shall crush your head” (Gen. 3:15), and also: “You alone have destroyed all heresies throughout the world,” so that in your immaculate and most merciful hands I may become a useful instrument for introducing and increasing as much as possible your glory in so many wandering and indifferent souls, and for extending, as far as possible, the blessed Kingdom of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Wherever you enter, you obtain the grace of conversion and sanctification, since every grace flows through your hands from the most sweet Heart of Jesus to us.

Consecration of Oneself to Jesus Christ, Incarnate Wisdom, Through the Hands of Mary (Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort)

O Eternal and Incarnate Wisdom! O most amiable and adorable Jesus, true God and true Man, only Son of the Eternal Father and of Mary ever Virgin! I adore You profoundly in the bosom and splendors of Your Father during eternity, and in the virginal womb of Mary at the time of Your Incarnation.

I give You thanks because You annihilated Yourself, taking the form of a slave in order to free me from the cruel slavery of the devil. I praise and glorify You because You deigned to submit Yourself to Mary, Your holy Mother, in all things, in order to make me through her Your faithful slave.

But alas! Ungrateful and unfaithful as I am, I have not kept the vows and promises that I so solemnly made to You in my Baptism. I do not deserve to be called Your child or Your slave, and since there is nothing in me that does not deserve Your rejection and Your wrath, I dare not approach Your holy and august Majesty by myself.

For this reason, I have recourse to the intercession and mercy of Your most holy Mother, whom You have given me as mediatrix with You. Through her I hope to obtain from You contrition and forgiveness for my sins, and the acquisition and preservation of Wisdom.

I greet you, therefore, O Immaculate Mary, living Tabernacle of the Divinity, where Eternal Wisdom hidden desires to be adored by angels and men.

I greet you, O Queen of Heaven and earth, to whose dominion all things are subject beneath God.

I greet you, O secure refuge of sinners, whose mercy has never failed anyone. Hear the desires I have for divine Wisdom, and receive for that purpose the vows and offerings that my lowliness presents to you.

I, N***, an unfaithful sinner, today renew and ratify in your hands the vows of my Baptism. I renounce forever Satan, his pomps, and his works, and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have been until now.

Today, in the presence of the whole heavenly court, I choose you, O Mary, as my Mother and Lady. I deliver and consecrate to you, as your slave, my body and soul, my interior and exterior goods, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present, and future, leaving to you the full right to dispose of me and of all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity.

Receive, O gracious Virgin, this little offering of my slavery in honor of and union with the submission that Eternal Wisdom deigned to have toward your motherhood; in homage to the power that both of you have over this little worm and miserable sinner, and in thanksgiving for the privileges with which the Most Holy Trinity has favored you.

I declare that henceforth I desire, as your true slave, to seek your honor and obey you in all things.

O admirable Mother, present me to your dear Son as His eternal slave, so that having redeemed me through you, He may receive me through you.

O Mother of mercy, grant me the grace to obtain the true Wisdom of God and place me among those whom you love, teach, guide, nourish, and protect as your children and slaves.

O faithful Virgin, make me in all things such a perfect disciple, imitator, and slave of Incarnate Wisdom Jesus Christ, your Son, that through your intercession and example I may attain the fullness of His age on earth and of His glory in Heaven. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Sister Lucia of Fatima)

To you, O Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, I consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart in a complete offering of myself to the Lord.

Take me under your maternal protection, defend me from the dangers that surround me, help me overcome the temptations that incline me toward evil, and preserve the purity of my body, spirit, and heart, so that through you I may be led to Jesus, your Son and the Son of God, and with Him be consecrated upon the altar and offered to the Father as a little Host of Love, for the eternal praise of the Most Holy Trinity, whom I adore and love. I believe in His Love, and I hope in His Mercy to sing with you, O Mary, forever, the praise of His Glory.
